A Kansas NFB National Scholarship Winner Speaks

Chikako Mochizuki of Lawrence, Kansas was a National Scholarship Winner. She discussed her plans to earn a Doctorate in History and shared her dream of being the first blind historian to go in to space.

Kenneth Tiede Memorial Scholarships

The Kenneeth Tiede Memorial Scholarship was created to provide scholarships to blind Kansans to persue higher educational goals. During the 2009 National Federation of the Blind of Kansas Annual Convention Second Vice-President Susan Stanzel discussed the history and development of the Kenneth Tiede Memorial Scholarship, explained who is elligeable to receive the scholarship and what criteria they must meet for consideration for this award. KENNETH TIEDE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

 

A KEY TO YOUR FUTURE

 

 The National Federation of the Blind of Kansas will award up to three scholarships ranging from 1,500 to 2,500 Dollars. If you are a legally blind high school senior, or if you are a student participating in a post-secondary undergraduate or graduate academic or vocational and technical training program, the National Federation of the Blind of Kansas invites you to apply for one of our scholarships.

  

Applications will be accepted from out of state students who will be attending school in Kansas and from Kansas students who will be attending in or out of state schools.

  

Applicants must have a 2.5 overall GPA.  If you receive one of these scholarships, the NFBK will pay for you to attend our state convention in the fall 2013At the convention you will be assigned a mentor, someone to acquaint you with the work and philosophy of the organization and to be a resource person for you as you continue your academic pursuits. 

 

Your receipt of a scholarship is contingent on your ability to attend the state convention at which you would be awarded the scholarship.
