January social Is On Saturday, January 28th

Hi, everyone! Our January social will be held on Saturday, January 28th at 1 pm at Fat Tony’s grill. The address is 417 East Douglas.

Don’t forget on Saturday, December 10th our Christmas party will be at Savutes Italian restaurant, 3303 North Broadway Wichita, Ks.. We will be getting together at 4:30pm. Transportation from the restaurant to home later that evening, will be provided by the chapter. Contact Floyd Ward to let him know you are inneed of a ride home. October Meet the Blind Month

On Saturday, October 8, 2011 We will be white cane walking in the Kansas Sunflower Parade celebrating Kansas 150th birthday. We will have a table for info and fund raising. Volunteers and walkers contact Leonard Silkey (316 440 5669) or Floyd Ward (316 871 2880 or floydray1@yahoo.com ). Moor details will fallow as they come in. We will also be holding our chapter meeting after the Parade at the normal time of 1:00 at the Wichita Public Library. There is a rumor there will be two tickets given to the lucky participant to “Kansas Home on the Range” concert with more than 60 musical performers featured at the concert being staged by the Kansas Chapter of the Western Music Association.

 

September's Picnic Is On Saterday The 24

The September social will be a picnic on Saturday the 24th, 11 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. We will once again, go to Watson Park, 3022 S. Mc Lean Blvd, shelter number 4. This is an open shelter near the pony ride, train and close to the lake.
The chapter has decided to have chicken, which the chapter will purchase as well as paper products. Please bring your covered dish with a serving utensil to share. You should bring your favorite beverage as well... sorry, no alcohol allowed. Emily and her singeing partner will provide entertainment - thanks Emily!
Please note the time as it is different from our typical social time frame- let's keep our fingers crossed for a beautiful fall day! If your para- transit will not take you to the shelter, as some of you thought could happen, please call me on my cell and I'll ask someone with a car to meet you at the gate. Ask when your transportation expects you to be back at the gate for the return if need be. My number is 308-3769. August's Social Outing Is On Saturday The 27 

This month's social event will be held at Cafe Moderne: 300 North Mead Suite 108 in Wichita. Saturday, August 27 from 2 to 4 PM. This establishment serves delicious, made from scratch gialato. Hope to see you there. Can everyone please let me know by Wednesday the 24 whether or not they will be coming?

July's Social Outing On Saturday July 23

Our social event will be held at Town and Country located at 4702 W. Kellogg. It will be held on Saturday July 23 from 2:00 - 4:00PM. I know several of you were wanting to go there any way for a social outing so hope to see you all there.

June's Social Outing On Saturday June 25

The June NFB South-Central chapter's social is Saturday, June 25 from 2-4 PM at Seneca Bowl. Seneca Bowl is located at 1909 S. Seneca. Those that plan to bowl will be charged $1.50 per/game-per/person. Shoe rentalis $1.75. There are tables for rest, relaxation and snacking near-by. There are Pepsi products, snacks of all kinds and hamburger baskets, etc at resonable prices. Bring family and friends...this should be fun and an interesting change for us! May's Social Outing On Friday June 3

The Sundown Parade, fallowed by Hiland Dairy Ice Cream Social; and then the Wichita Symphony Orchestra performing Twilight Pops Concert on the gigantic outdoor stage, with Fireworks display immediately following the concert. These event locations are all close to each other.

The parade starts at 6:30; streets will be closed at 5:30. I will be on site by 5:30 in section 1, spot 13. Please be there by 6:00 so we can be ready to move at 6:30. Once the Parade starts the officials will not allow anyone to join the march. We have five Riverfest buttons which will be given to the walkers who have traveled the farthest, (these are a $5.00 value).

For those who will be using transit your drop off point will be Market and Pine. There is an envision parking lot at Main and Pine, however I am not sure if you will be able to get there. From Market and Pine you will need to go west on Pine to main, (one block). The sighted in our group will watch for your white canes. If you would like to try to find us we will be in spot 13, section 1. Section one is from Central to Murdock on Main. We will also have a van to provide transportation home for local walkers.
The rut is 9 blocks long. We invite all to come. If you cannot walk that far and need a wheel chair pusher contact me ASAP, We will find you one. Remember your sunscreen and water.
The uniform is black shirt and blue pants, shorts, jeans, skort, skirt, or dress (chose one or mix and match your choice).
After the Sundown Parade we will make our way to the Kansas Star Music Park at West Bank where you can enjoy the Hiland Dairy Ice Cream Social; and then the Wichita Symphony Orchestra performing the Koch Twilight Pops Concert on the gigantic outdoor stage beginning at 8:30 pm. With Fireworks display immediately following the concert. These event locations are all close to each other.

April Social Outing Saturday April 23

This month’s social meeting will be held on Saturday April 23, at 2:00 pm at John Browns, located at 3700 E Douglas Suite 78, Wichita, Ks. February social outing Saturday the 26th

The Social Meeting for our Chapter will be Sat. Feb 26,2011, at the El Mexico Cafe, 2544 S. Seneca, Wichita, Kansas.We will begin at 2 PM. - Jack has printed Wichita 360 coupons that are Buy one entree receive the second entree 1/2 off with purchase of two drinks.  So if possible plan to order in pairs and save a little extra off the already reasonable rates.

We of the South Central Chapter wish to invite you to our Christmas party. State Convention Transportation

Our state convention transportation to Lawrence Friday November 12. We will be meeting at Lenard and Meg Silkey's, 1944 S. Water.  They will open  there door at 9:15am, (Remember they work nights). We need to depart as close to 9:25am as possible to make the Cooking class. We will leave at 9:30am. Hope to see you there.
