The 2007 Convention of the National Federation of the Blind of Kansas is rappidly approaching. Convention Information is now available. This year's National Representative is Ron Gardner, President of the National Federation of the Blind of Utah, and Director of the Professional Development and Research Institute on Blindness

The October 2007 Issue of The Braille Monitor reported the death of Dean Stanzel, husband of NFBK imediat past-President Susan Stanzel who passed away onJune 21, 2007after a long bout with Cancer. Among his many contributions was the redesign of the National Federation of the Blind of Kansas Web Site.

The National Federation of the Blind of Kansas newsletter area has undergone a reorganization. Current and pastt issues can now be accessed from the NFB of Kansas Newsletter Archive. The Fall 2007 Issue includes preliminary information about the up-coming NFB of Kansas State Convention. Additional convention information will be made available shortly.

Meet-the-Blind Month 2007

October is Meet-the-Blind Month throughout the country. The National Federation of the Blind of Kansas, along with other NFB state affiliates have planned a wide variety of events and activities to spread the federation's message of security, equallity, and opportunity for all blind Americans and to show members of our communities that it is respectable to be blind. Likewise, we want you to know about the Richard Edlund Kansas Braille Reading Contest> which is similar to the "Braile Readers Are Leaders" Contest which is sponsored by our national organization. Please note: The 2007 contest year dealine is Augest 31, 2007
